Incorporating ICF with Subcontractors
A common question we receive is how to incorporate subcontractors into ICF construction, specifically for mechanical trades like electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. Electricians use electric or battery-operated chainsaws to create grooves in the 2.5 inches of foam for wiring, cutting down to the concrete. Build block forms have plastic tabs every 6 inches for attaching drywall or siding. For plumbing, larger sections may be cut out to accommodate pipes, which are re-insulated with rigid and liquid foam before drywall installation. HVAC contractors collaborate on the size and placement of sleeves for water and HVAC lines during the block stacking process, ensuring a smooth and efficient installation.
