Understanding ICF Blocks and BuildBlock Products
ICF blocks, specifically BuildBlock, are an innovative construction material made from EPS foam (expanded polystyrene), similar to what you'd find in a coffee cup. These blocks are reinforced with heavy plastic webbing engineered to securely hold concrete. The most commonly used blocks are straight blocks, measuring four feet long, along with 90° corners. There are also various other types available, including 45° blocks and radius blocks, suitable for projects like swimming pools.
BuildBlock products are designed with robustness in mind. Unlike many industry blocks with webbing spaced 8 inches apart, BuildBlock features webbing at 6-inch centers, reducing the risk of blowouts. The interlocking teeth design makes stacking these blocks straightforward and ensures they fit together snugly, much like oversized Lego bricks.
Additionally, each block has marked tabs that act as the studs of a wall, placed every 6 inches compared to the standard 16 inches in regular homes. These tabs are also designed to accommodate rebar, simplifying the reinforcement process for your concrete structures.
Using ICF blocks from BuildBlock ensures strength and stability in your construction projects. For further details or inquiries, feel free to contact us or watch more of our informative videos.
